Upshot

Increase transparency on a remote team

The Problem: At Upshot, a marketing agency that works remotely, they are often juggling ten projects at a time. It can be especially challenging for them to ensure their team is well coordinated so that nothing slips through the cracks. As they work 100% remotely, this is critical as they are unable to sort out any issues in person.

The team was getting frustrated with an unmanageable amount of internal emails and phone calls.

We wanted a tool that could provide more clarity into what everyone was working on and as much as possible, automate our workflow. – Kemberly McDowell, Director of Project Administration

Fortunately, they found exactly what they were looking for in Hive.

How Hive Helped:

Hive not only brought more transparency to their projects but also streamlined the way they communicate. It has greatly improved their performance in coordinating daily activities.

Being both a Partner and the Director of Project Administration, Kemberly always needs to keep an eye on what the team is working on and track the progress of each project.

Now she only have one place to look, so easy to see what is going on and where everyone’s at in the process (here’s a look at the view of one of her projects today):

Because of Hive, now team members can all be up to speed, while at the same time having significantly less emails and phone calls.

It’s been such a relief to have a more manageable inbox and less internal phone conversations. This proves especially valuable when you’re super busy and need to stay focused.

One of Kemberly’s absolute favorite features of Hive is action templates.

An action template is a checklist of actions that users can pre-write, and copy to an unlimited number of actions. In most of Upshot’s projects, there are several actions that need to be done every time. Kimberly created a few processes that she can trigger each time we begin a new project.

Hive has completely streamlined task management for our team and is a big timesaver.

I would recommend it to any organization operating remotely that’s looking for a better way to communicate and work together.
