New This Month In Hive: January 2022

As the first project management software built by users, for users, Hive strives to put out new features every week based on user feedback. This month, we have some exciting roll-outs to share! Keep voting and requesting on the features you want to see in the Hive Forum. #DemocraticallyBuilt

1. Track time on behalf of another user

Users can now track time on behalf of both other users and external users. This is helpful for out-of-office team members, external viewers, or users who may forget to track their own time.

In order to track a teammate’s time, you will have to be either the project owner or a workspace admin. Click “Add time” on the action card, and find the individual you want to add time for.

Once you have completed their time submission, time will be added as its own line-item on the card.

Note: You will not be able to track time on behalf of an unassigned individual or a team.

Thank you to Maryann from GreenPrint for requesting this feature.

2. Select and move multiple actions in Gantt

Many Hive users rely heavily on Gantt. To make things easier, our drag-and-drop functionality in Gantt will now include selection of several actions at once.

When you user selects multiple actions, you will now be able to:

  • Move all selected actions to the new location
  • Make actions subactions of the card they were dropped into
  • Move all cards to the new project

Thank you to Christina from Terakeet for requesting this feature!

3. Ability to add action when table view is sorted/filtered

For users working in a sorted/filtered table view, we have added the ability to add additional tasks without having to reset filters. To quick-add actions from a filtered or sorted table view, click the “+New” button to create an action.

Thank you to Josh at Stanley Black & Decker, Patricia at Upwork, and Ernesto at Silgan for voting on this feature.

4. Expanded date range for action card templates

This update makes it possible for teams to plan even further in advance in action card templates. Instead of the previous 100-day limit, users will be able to set timeframes of up to 999 days in either direction.

Thank you to Alina at Cedarville for requesting this feature!

5. Allocate different hours for each day in an estimate

This highly-requested feature is now live. Users can now set different hour a/mounts for each day in a task estimate.

For example, week-long tasks can now be split up into X hours on Monday, X hours on Tuesday, etc. rather than equally dispersed across the week. This is helpful in cases of week-long projects with time needing to be front loaded in the beginning or end of the week.

To customize your time estimates, go to the selected action card and scroll down to the time-tracking app. From there, add your estimated time for the specific task. To break down how much time you’re estimating per day on a task, select the blue calendar to the left of the estimated time.

A new, clean model will pop up where you are able to divide up your task estimates by day.

Thank you to Johann at JS Tour & Travel, Albert at Tabush, and Jessie at Barefoot for requesting this feature.
